Recent summers have had Sacramento courses at 95°+ for about 25 hours a week. Bartley Cavanaugh is at 95°+ for only about 10 hours a week. We run measurably cooler — and the reason is the Delta Breeze.
The Delta Breeze happens when warm Valley air rises and cool Bay air rushes inland to fill the gap. Bartley sits closer to the Bay than most of Sacramento, so the breeze hits us first. And because the course runs along the river, the breeze stays concentrated instead of dissipating.
If you want to feel the cooling effect, book an early-summer round. Tee off at 5 a.m. in June through August.
